1) Drama Therapy
This is a field that I know little about, but I am interested in pursuing. What are its uses? What are common practices? How do you become qualified to be a drama therapist? What is its history and how can it be utilized in the future?
2) No-Kill Animal Shelters
How does this business model work? How many are there in the country? Why would people choose non-kill? What happens to the animals? How does foster care play a role in this?
3) Developmental Stages of Children ages 0-18 & the educational system
This has always been fascinating to me because I am obsessed with mental development. What are the different types of developmental models? Who theorizes about this subject? How can we apply what we know about children’s development to the educational system to make it work for them rather than against them? Montessori vs. Charter vs. Public vs. Private and the ways in which they differ.
I think octopi are awesome looking but I know little about them factually. Would love to delve deeper into research about this aquatic animal. Where are they commonly found? What is the largest species of octopus? What is their role in the ecosystem? What countries/cities/etc. (if any) worship or have folklore of the octopus? What do they symbolize in other cultures?
5) Police Drones
I read about these in the Seattle Times about a month ago and couldn’t believe my eyes. What exactly are they? How are they used? What are they used for? How do they legally get away with spying on people? What is the ACLU’s stance? What are our privacy rights as Americans? Where else are the drones being used?
6) Gay Marriage
I know a lot about this topic but I’m very passionate about it, and it could be a possibility for research. Which was the first state to legalize marriage? What is the argument against it? Who supports gay marriage? What are the statistics now vs. the 1960’s of openly gay people/supporters? What in our society has changed that we are able to move forward in almost every other area except this one?
7) Raw food diets
As a meat-eater, I find it almost impossible to understand why anyone would ever give things up like bacon. Researching raw food diets and the benefits would help me understand something that is unfathomable. What is “raw” food? What are the benefits of a raw food diet? What percentage of the population are raw vegans? When did this movement start? Who made it famous? Which areas of the country have the most meat eaters/vegetarians/vegans? Could design a week’s worth of meal planning for raw food dieters.
